Why Is It So Hard to Let Go? Simple practices for making space in your body, mind and everyday life
October has arrived, and everywhere we look, nature seems to be showing us how to let go. The leaves change, release and fall. The light shifts. The days grow shorter.

It all looks so effortless.
But for us? Letting go isn't always that easy. We hold onto conversations, our stories and worries. We replay things we wish we'd done differently. We carry expectations, responsibilities and sometimes even physical tension long after we need to. Maybe the answer isn't trying harder to let go. Maybe it's simply making a little more space.
🍂 Making Space
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is associated with the Lungs and Large Intestine and the natural rhythm of receiving and releasing.
We breathe in what nourishes us. We breathe out what we no longer need. And perhaps we can approach other parts of our lives the same way—not with force, but with a little more softness.
🌬️ Try This: Breathe, Open & Release
Take a comfortable breath in as you gently open your arms out to the sides.
Pause for just a moment and notice the space you've created.
As you exhale, slowly bring your hands toward your heart.
Repeat a few times, moving at your own pace. With each breath, ask yourself:
What am I ready to make a little less room for?
You don't need an answer. Simply notice what comes up.
Then ask:
What would I like to make more room for?
Peace? Joy? Rest? Connection? Calm? Sometimes letting go isn't about getting rid of something. It's about deciding what we'd rather make room for.
✨ A Little Practice for October
This month, notice where you might be holding on a little too tightly (or for dear life)
Take a breath.
Create some space.
Soften where you can.
You don't have to let go of everything at once. Sometimes creating just a little more space is enough. What excites me is the idea that with more space we have room for receiving something new, something we've been imagining, something that is perfectly matched to our vibrations, ideas and desires.
🌿 Calm Starts Here.
