Heart Hold: Returning to Grace, ✨Clarity, and Self‑Kindness

There’s a quiet moment in every healing session or class when the energy shifts.
For me, it often begins the instant my hands cross my heart.
This simple gesture💓is more than posture or habit—it’s a doorway. As the palms rest over the chest and the breath begins to slow, awareness is gently guided toward what is sometimes called the seat of our soul - our spiritual heart. It is considered the inner sanctuary where wisdom, compassion, and divine presence live. When we place our hands here with intention, something subtle but powerful begins to happen.
Crossing the Hands into Heart Hold, Weaving the Light
As the hands cross over the heart, I invite in the mantra:
“I am filled with grace, clarity, and worthiness—for myself and others.”
These words are like threads of light, weaving through the layers of self-doubt, tension, and old stories. Each repetition is a soft reminder that:
The divine is always here, even in difficulty.
I am not alone.
My heart knows the deeper truth, even when my mind is noisy or afraid. Touching the heart can feel profoundly comforting and nourishing. It’s as if the body recognizes, “Oh, we’re safe now.” The nervous system starts to settle, the breath softens, and a deeper knowing has space to rise: I am loved. I am held. I belong.
From Self-Judgment to Self-Kindness
One of the most common struggles I see—both in myself and in others—is the tendency to be harsh, critical, or uncaring toward our own needs. The “thinking mind” can become a constant judge, replaying what went wrong.
The Heart Hold invites us to skip that mental fray and drop into a quiet, safe space. Here, in the seat of the heart, we remember that we are worthy—before we fix anything, improve anything, or prove anything. The heart doesn’t ask us to be perfect; it simply asks us to be present.
When we pair this Heart Hold with the mantra
“I am filled with grace, clarity, and worthiness for myself and others”
we practice treating ourselves with the same compassion we might offer💐a friend. This is where threads of light begin to do its quiet work: transforming judgment into compassion, fear into trust, and separation into wholeness.
The Subtle Medicine of Heart Hold🪷
On an energetic and physical level, the Heart Hold helps guide energy and breath upward toward the heart and lungs. With consistent practice, it can:
Support the immune, heart, and respiratory systems
Help release tension and invite fuller, easier breathing
Offer grounding during hard times
Cultivate trust and emotional balance
Call in the higher wisdom of your “spiritual heart”
Gently guide you toward more kindness and acceptance of yourself
This isn’t a loud or dramatic practice. It’s subtle, steady, and deeply intimate.
A Simple Practice to Try⚜️
You don’t need any special tools to begin. All you need is a few moments of quiet and your willingness to listen inward - we practice this in class often.
Heart-Hold | Threads of Light Practice
Get comfortable and take a minute to silence technology.
Sit or lie down with your spine supported. Let your shoulders relax, jaw soften, spine surrender and shake out hands and feet.
Place your hands✋:
Rest your right hand on your sternum at the center of your chest.
Gently place your left hand over your right hand.
Breathe naturally
Take 5–10 slow, natural breaths, feeling the rise and fall beneath your hands. Over time, you can lengthen this to a few minutes.
Repeat the mantra and slowly say, three times aloud and three times silently:
“I am filled with grace, clarity, and worthiness—for myself and others.”
Let each word land in your body, not just your mind.
Notice and without analyzing, simply observe:
How does your chest feel?
Has your breath changed?
What emotions or sensations are present?
When you’re ready, lower your hands to your lap and take a final deep breath, as if you’re sealing in the energy and light. Every time you cross your hands over your heart with intention, you’re not just “doing a mudra”—you’re opening a channel. You’re allowing the threads of light within you to glow a little brighter, to move a little more freely, and to remind you of what has always been true:
You are filled with grace.
You are capable of clarity💎.
You are profoundly worthy—of your own love, and of offering that love to others.
If your heart is calling for more of this gentle work, you’re invited to take the next step ✨.
